Kale is a hardy, cold-weather crop that can be planted at any time from early spring to early summer. Sow the seeds approximately 1/2" deep and 8" apart in well-drained, light soil. The soil pH should be between 6.5 and 6.8 to discourage disease. After 2 weeks, thin the seedlings so they're 24" apart. Keep the soil moist, but not over-watered, as the plants grow. Feed them regularly. When the leaves are about the size of your hand, harvest a fistful at a time, starting with the oldest leaves from the lowest section of the plant, to give the younger leaves time to grow.

Brassica Oleracea Var. Acephala: These non-GMO, USDA Organic Blue Vates Kale seeds produce abundant, finely curled, blue-green leaves with a sweet, nutty flavor. They are highly nutritious and delicious, whether eaten fresh or cooked.

To make the most of your harvest, avoid picking the terminal bud (at the top center of the plant) to keep your plant productive after harvesting.
